Practical Hints
Interest
If you are interested in the topic you are studying, it will show. If you like the project you are working on, you will probably be more willing to spend time on it and make it better all the way around.
Help
Most projects require some help from a parent or teacher, but choose a project that you can do primarily on your own. Don't choose something so complicated that you have a difficult time understanding what is happening. Some of the best science fair projects are simple ones.
Time
Choose something that you can complete in the amount of time that you have. It is better to choose a less complicated project that you can get complete results on than a complicated one that you only have time to do a small part of the research. Organize the time that you have to work on your project into phases so that you know what you should be doing during each portion of the project.
Safety
Your project should not harm people or animals. Don't use equipment or substances that are dangerous. If you need to use potentially harmful materials, be sure that you have qualified supervision.
Organization
Be organized in all aspects of your project. Keep careful notes on everything that you do. When designing your display remember that it should look neat and tidy.
